Five Lamps Arts Festival 2020 – Online Edition
Festival 2020 – Online Edition Update
We are delighted to announce that our 2020 festival will be made available to all of you at home online through our social media channels. We, the Five Lamps Arts Festival team, headed by Rosin Lonergan, our Artistic Director, and Marcela Parducci, our Project Manager, have been working hard to ensure that the 2020 festival is delivered in as an entertaining and safe as possible way this year. We have suffered many set-backs this year, but in partnership with D Light Studios we have been able to make this a possibility. By strictly following the HSE guidelines we recorded a superb lineup of artists to display a wide array of the culture and art that exist in Dublin’s Northside.
The 2020 festival is hosted by the brilliant non-binary drag artist Avoca Reaction who introduces the festival as well as performing.
The acts are opened up by some traditional Irish music performed by Liam Lonergan, Aoife Nic Dhomhnaill, Libby McCrohan and John Flynn, all Dublin based artists. This is accompanied by some wonderful Irish dancing performed by Caoimhe Ni Mhaolagain in the sean-nós style.
There are several spoken word poetry performances from John Cummins, Rachel Hegarty and Catherine Ann Cullen.
Brazilian culture is represented with dance artist Karen Aguiar, performing a beautiful choreographed performance. Criola Dance, represent Afro- Brazilian culture with artists Alessandra Azevedo, Cíntia Augusta, Marilia Guimarães and Yves Lorhan. Thaís Muniz is an artist and designer born in Brazil. She shares aspects of Afro-Atlantic culture and she performs a poem of her experience of being a black Brazilian woman seeking for her unknown heritage as she ties her intricate and beautiful turban.
The festival is closed out by an empowering performance from the Dublin singer, songwriter Gemma Dunleavy of her hit single “Up De Flats” from the EP of the same name.
The festival also includes many performance from artists such as; Dubh Lee, Peter Sheridan, Was Man, and many more.
