SUMMARY:Double Bill Session: Oscillation & In the Vicinity of the Sun
DESCRIPTION:“Oscillation” is a short film directed by dance artist Adam O’Reilly, featuring some of Ireland’s top dance and movement talent from a broad spectrum of the Irish dance community. The film aims to serve as an archival piece, depicting the current state of Dublin’s vibrant dance community.\n‘Oscillation’ aims pays homage to Dublin/ Ireland in being the home of such vast dance talent, and recognising the impact environment and place has on our art and careers.\n‘Oscillation’ had its official screening for the cast, crew, and invited guests at the Rackett space in Dublin in March 2023. The film was later screened at the ‘Dancer For The Dance Festival’ by Irish Modern Dance Theatre, directed by John Scott, at the IFI as part of the IFI ‘Irish Focus’ programme in June 2023.\n\n‘In the Vicinity of the Sun’ is a dance film choreographed by John Scott, filmed and edited by award winning filmmaker Luca Truffarelli with music by Michael Scott. Commissioned by the Five Lamps Arts Festival and located around Dublin’s Five Lamps North Inner City area. The film features a joyous celebratory group dance and seven solos by seven exceptional Irish based dancers of vastly diverse dance backgrounds, from Brazil, Dominican Republic, Ireland and Zimbabwe. ‘In the Vicinity of the Sun’ reflects seven diverse individuals expressing their feelings through their personal approaches to dance in urban locations, linked by water, railways, bridges, pathways – like stars in a solar system moving relative to the Sun. ‘In the Vicinity of the Sun’ was created at Dance Ireland and Dublin Central Mission and filmed on location and at Marino College of Further Education.\n
