SUMMARY:Mud Island Community Garden Family Friendly Day
DESCRIPTION:On April 20th (Saturday), Mud Island is set to welcome families for a lineup of Live Music, Circus acts, engaging Children’s Workshops, wrapping up The Five Lamps Arts Festival 2024. Events will happen from 11am – 6pm.\n \nAGENDA\n\n11:30am & 12:45pm: “Ta Tum Tum!”\n\n\nAn immersive samba drums interactive music show designed for children to explore Brazilian culture through music, body awareness, voice and different rhythms. Samba is enacted most spectacularly in the Brazilian Carnival celebrations and that’s what Ta Tum Tum! is all about – sharing the most colourful and happy celebration in the world with children.\n11am – 5pm: Quirk Market\n\nA vibrant space where the LGBTQIA+ community celebrate, trade, and showcase their creations. Two years later, the market keeps fostering new and established creators in the Dublin scene, being one of the first-ever markets run by and for queer people.\n12:15pm: Avoca Reaction\n\nJoin Avoca Reaction and friends for an afternoon of stories and songs at Storytime, with inclusion as theme. A fun and engaging children’s literary event aimed at ages 4-10 years but can be enjoyed by all! Presented by Wren Dennehy.\n1:30pm: Guido Fanzini’s IMPOSSIBLE CIRCUS\n\nA circus tale of sibling rivalry, brotherly love and pogo sticks. It tells the story of how Guido Fanzini finally managed to demote his brother Ronaldo to a lowly circus roustabout so he can shine as the star of Guido Fanzini’s Impossible Circus. But Ronaldo may have other ideas! For all ages.\n2pm: CÓR DUIBHLINNE\n\nDirected by Amy Ní Riain, a small three-part choir of women convenes to sing and rehearse in Irish. Their repertoire blends traditional and contemporary Irish songs, catering to speakers of all levels – from beginners to fluent and native speakers. Prior to rehearsals held every Tuesday night, members gather for a friendly cup of tea and conversation, supported by Foras na Gaeilge. New participants are warmly encouraged to join at any time.\n3pm: The Free Reeders\n\n\nThe Free Reeders are harmonica enthusiasts bonded by Irish tradition. With skilful harmonies and versatile instrumentation, we breathe new life into timeless melodies. Experience the essence of Irish music reimagined.\n3.30 pm: Temi NLA\n\nTemi NLA, a singer-songwriter and producer from Dublin’s Northeast Inner City, blends hip hop, rap, and R&B into a unique style. Inspired by artists like Chris Brown and Ne-Yo, his music features slick vocals, hypnotic beats, and dynamic verses. His name, “Temi NLA,” translates to “Temi the Great” from his father’s Yoruba heritage and his connection to Dublin’s Sherrif Street. After headlining his first show at the Sound House before his 18th birthday, and representing Dublin FM104 as their Hot Press Local Hero Artist, TEMI is gearing up for the release of his debut EP.\n4pm: Kiruu Music\n\n\nKiruu’s music combines influences from his mixed cultural background of Ireland, the Mediterranean, and East Africa. His live band includes a diverse range of collaborators from around the globe. He released his first album, “Super Feo Express” in 2019, and the Equinox music video in summer 2022. New music is currently being recorded for release this year.\nAll Day: Fusion Murga\n\nA recognisable musical style associated with carnival. A mix of theatre, satire, comedy, choral singing, and clowns. For The Five Lamps Arts Festival 2024, Fusion Murga brings an interactive multilingual workshop. Expect games, music, theatre, dance and more. If you are an artist or art lover interested in building creative collaborations and celebrating cultural diversity, join us!\n
