COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS

THE FIVE LAMPS ARTS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS, RUNS PROGRAMMES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

The Five Lamps Arts Hub has learned that organising programmes through schools is one of the best ways to make their support accessible to children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in after-school programmes or weekend events.

This organic, responsive approach to programme development, ensures that the Five Lamps Arts Hub is always responding to the needs of the community and using its resources to have the greatest impact.

DANCING WORKSHOPS

A series of workshops with the dance teacher Emily Kilkenny Roddy, dance Artist in Residence for the North East Inner City.

A number of dance classes were already made available to primary and secondary schools and youth clubs, as a way to develop well being and awareness, and an approach with the arts.

TEEN & KIDS FASHION DESIGN CLASSES

The workshop will teach children how to sew, design and make their own clothes.

In the process they will learn:

  • Pattern Drafting
  • Garment Construction
  • Design Development
  • Fashion Illustration
  • Photography

The children will be inspired to create their own clothes and they will also have a basic photo shooting class to register their collection.
