Poetry in Translation with Mary O’Donnell
This reading is a wonderful opportunity to savour the experience of translation from Hiberno English to Brazilian Portuguese. The poet is Mary O’Donnell, and the translator is the renowned translator and writer Lucy Colline from Curitíba, Brazil. The book from which the readings come is called ONDE ESTOU OS PÁSSAROS, based on O’Donnell’s 2020 collection MASSACRE OF THE BIRDS. Last autumn, she did a reading tour in Brazil during which these poems featured strongly.
Reader Sara Ribeiro is Brazilian by birth and Irish by heart. One day she decided to go to Ireland for a few months and never returned.
