Interrupted Collective artists at contemporary art exhibition during Five Lamps Arts Festival Dublin

The Interrupted Collective Exhibition is a compelling contemporary visual arts exhibition presented as part of the Five Lamps Arts Festival 2026 in Dublin. Bringing together a group of mid-career Irish artists, the exhibition explores ideas of transparency, process and creative investigation through a range of artistic practices including painting, photography, installation and video.

The artists in Interrupted Collective share a common experience of maintaining an active creative practice while balancing the realities of work, financial responsibilities and caregiving. These interruptions shape the rhythm of their artistic lives, influencing the way their work evolves over time. Rather than limiting creativity, these pauses often become spaces for reflection, experimentation and renewed artistic energy.

Through their work, the collective investigates what is revealed, concealed and gradually uncovered within the creative process. Layers of colour, texture and form become visual metaphors for discovery, transformation and the passage of time. The exhibition invites visitors to engage with artworks that move between abstraction and representation, material exploration and emotional resonance.

The exhibition features work by Sorcha Ní Néill, Roger O’Neill, Annemarie Kilshaw, Paul Hickey and Steven Doody, each bringing a distinctive artistic voice to the collective presentation.

Sorcha Ní Néill explores relationships between everyday shapes and colour, using simplified forms and a limited palette to create playful and experimental compositions.

Dublin painter Roger O’Neill creates semi-representational works that sit between landscape and structure, using layered materials and textures inspired by the urban environment of Dublin City.

Annemarie Kilshaw’s multidisciplinary practice embraces imperfection and transparency, allowing emotion to emerge through expressive mark-making. Paul Hickey’s painting practice explores rhythm, pattern and colour, while sculptor Steven Doody incorporates public participation and community engagement into his work, creating connections between art and shared experience.

Taking place at Jervis Street Shopping Centre in Dublin’s North City, this free art exhibition in Dublin offers visitors the opportunity to encounter contemporary visual art in an accessible and public setting. The exhibition forms part of the wider Five Lamps Arts Festival programme, celebrating creativity, community and artistic expression across Dublin’s North Inner City.

Visitors are invited to explore the exhibition, discover new perspectives and experience the evolving work of contemporary Irish artists.
