The Kwetu Movement
Did you know that up to 25% of Jamaicans claim they are descendants of Irish people?
Ireland is connected to the Caribbean island due to the large number of Irish brought to Jamaica to work under the English colony established there in 1655.
Why are we talking about this? We all know that music and dance connect us to a deeper level, This session aims to present a Dancehall workshop to connect Irish people and other nationalities living in Ireland to learn more about Jamaica and this dance style.
The Kwetu Movement with Lucile Aires will lead us on this Dancehall journey.
For this beginner-friendly session, we suggest wearing comfortable and loose-fitting clothes.
